This is Chapter 3 of the Dorveaux Plantation. Players must have completed Chapter 2, The Sunshire Fields before proceeding with this Scenario.
Merevo Joins the Party (NPCs act similar to enemies. Consult the rules for more information: Rules and Systems).
You follow Merevo through the Iron Gates that were once hidden by an old, dark magic. An incredibly large plantation stands at the end of a large pathway with a faint green light covering the entire door. The plantation looks to be in great repair with no signs of rot or decay on any part of it. In front of the plantation, three buildings are positioned at the end of a different path near the fork, with two of them having a faint green light on their door but the far building. A Silo, however, has no light in front of the door.
Merevo points at the large door in front you belonging to a very large mansion. He steps in front of you and creates a small white ball in his hand before tossing it at the door. The white ball is hurled through the air and smashes into the door before being projected back at you and Merevo. You both are forced to dive out of the way as the white ball smashes into the iron fence behind you. “I don’t think we’re getting through that door by simply blowing through the magic,” said Merevo as he looks around the area. He sees the two other buildings with the green aura in front of them, though sees the Silo is open. “Perhaps our journey continues through that very large building,” continues Merevo as he dusts off his robe. “Come on. Lets see what’s in there.”
You follow Merevo down the path toward the tall Silo in the distance, looking around the area while following the path. The entire area is void of any life, as you perceive that it has been hidden for years. The grass is well manicured around the buildings while still appearing to be alive and flourishing. In the distance, the Silo appears to have been freshly painted and not showing any signs of aging, while the other buildings around the area appear to look in similar conditions.
You reach the Silo and look up at the very tall, round structure. The door in the front is open and hanging off the hinges with several pieces of grain strewn about the floor. You walk through the door and look around the area. Old barrels line the walls with several wooden posts and metal wiring containing a lot of recently cut grains. “Odd,” states Merevo. “This place has been hidden but it appears to be well kept up.”
“We take pride in our jobs,” announces a booming voice from the door. You turn around to see a very tall, thick man carrying a two-handed sword on his back. He’s grizzled and old, but doesn’t appear to show any signs of being frail or feeble. “We’ve been at it for quite some time, so you can say we’re quite experienced.”
“How long have you been here?” asks a curious Merevo.
“Quite some time,” replies the older man while pulling the greatsword off of his back and gripping the two-handed weapon with his only one. “I can’t say I’ve had to swing this guy in a very long time as we don’t get many people entering the Silos.”
Merevo chuckles as he looks around the Silo to see two more farmhands walking in behind the old man. “I see you’re bringing in some assistance.”
“Just trying to even up the sides,” he replies as he pulled the great sword off of his back.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Silo Master and Dorveaux Farmhand x 2
The two farmhands disintegrate into the air, leaving the Silo Master looking at you. He smiles at you in disbelief without saying a word. He drops to his knees while keeping his eyes on Merevo. His body fades away as the smile remains until the last moment before fading with the rest of him. As his body dissipates, a faint blue light appears on the far wall away from the door. Merevo, noticing it first, takes a white ball of energy and projects it into it. The blue light emits large sparks, just as it had prior to entering the plantation.
In front of you, several faint apparitions appear. One of them, most noticeably, was the Silo Master you just defeated. He walks up to a man standing in the center of the room wearing a black jacket and a white, frilled shirt. “Master Dorveaux, are you sure this the best course of action?” asks the Silo Master as he stands in front of the master of the Plantation. “The war is over. Can’t we go back to our old lives?”
The Plantation Master smirks as he looks around the Silo. “The war will never be over, old friend,” he replies in a comforting tone, placing his hand on the Silo Master’s shoulder. “Just because there is an armistice does not mean that the war is truly over.”
“But the Gods have all been banished to their own realms, separated from Dun-I. Vesya decreed that they cannot step foot on this plane again. How can the war continue?” questions the confused Silo Master.
The Plantation Master smiles earnestly while both of the apparitions disappear. You look out as the lights in the Silo dim, followed by the appearance of the Silo Master again, still holding the smile on his face.
“What is this place?” asks a perplexed Merevo.
“What do you think it is?” retorts the Silo Master.
“I think it’s a place filled with a near ancient magic, though I cannot seem to figure out why,” states Merevo slowly.
The Silo Master shakes his head while staring at the mage. “You’re close,” he says calmly and mysteriously before disappearing back into the air.
You turn around as Merevo walks away from the area, out of the Silo and back toward the center area. You follow him closely as he steps out, hoping to see an entrance to another of the buildings. Once in the center area, you see the green aura from the door of one of the buildings removed, a smaller one that appears to be full of hay and the home to animals and other beasts. “I suppose we’re walking into the stables now,” announces Merevo as he leads the way with you in tow.
Merevo leads the way into the stables. You walk in and find eight stalls, four across from each other on each side, filled with hay but void of any creatures. You move forward with Merevo leading the way, walking past the eight stalls. As you cross the threshold into a larger room, a loud nay from a horse echos from behind you, forcing you to turn around abruptly. “This place is starting to mess with me,” says a bothered Merevo as you all look around for the horse, only to find nothing.
You turn around and look forward and start to walk further through the stables. You come up to a fork in the stables, leading up down two different paths. The first path, the one to the left, leads down a dimly lit corridor while the second path, the one to the right, has several stables across from one another.
As you’re standing there, you feel a chill go down your spine. You remain still, looking at the wall as you hear footsteps behind you. You turn, looking behind you to see a small child staring at you. He’s young with neat blonde hair, blue eyes, and neat overalls covering a green shirt. The child laughs and disappears into the air, leaving you staring at the floor where he was standing. “I take back what I said before. Now this place is starting to mess with me,” remarks an unnerved Merevo.
You breathe slowly as you look down both corridors, turning your head to decide which way you’re going to head.
Head to the left, down the dimly lit corridor.
Head to the right, toward the stables
You walk down the dimly lit hallway, moving slowly as the only light being provided is shining through slats in the wall. You move slowly, keeping your eyes in front of you to make sure you don’t step on something that could prove hazardous. “Why did we choose to head down the eerie hallway?” asks Merevo as he moves beside you. You continue your walk, making a sharp right turn to continue down the eerie hallway.
You take another step and a loud crack echos beneath your feet. Merevo turns to see the small child standing behind you, this time laughing. “Who are you?” he asks as the child continues to laugh. He stands still, holding his pose as four creatures emerge from the shadows to attack.
Commence Battle with Bandersnatch x 4
The child disappears from behind you as the creatures are on the ground. All that is left is the dusty imprint from the child's feet and the bodies of the bandersnatches. Merevo turns and looks forward, seeing a small opening ahead of you.
You walk into the small opening in between the two dimly lit corridors. You look around, seeing small saddles, crops, and other riding devices lining the wall. You move through the area, looking for anything of use as a light laugh comes from behind you. You turn quickly to see the small child sitting in a chair, looking up at you and pointing.
“Child, I really need you to stop pointing at me,” states a bothered and stern Merevo.
The child giggles in an innocent manner while looking at you and Merevo. As your eyes are locked on him, two shadowy creatures descend from the ceiling, held together by chains and stitches.
Commence Battle with Plantation Construct x 2
You look at the constructs that have fallen in front of you. Their bodies have been put together with beasts and humans, making them for a very awkward and odd creation. You look up to see that the child has disappeared again, though the path forward is clear.
You walk through the dimly lit corridor having just left the open area where the constructs were. You make your way through an area incredibly similar to the corridor before, where the only light coming through is from openings between the slats. “I wonder where that little bastard is going to appear this time,” says a perturbed Merevo as you walk beside him. Merevo’s hands are at his side, ready to create a energy in his hands at a moment’s notice.
“You do neat tricks,” says a soft, playful voice from behind you. “How do you make light in your hands?”
Merevo breathes heavily before turning around to see the small child with a curious expression on his face. “It’s taken me years of practice,” he said calmly, trying to remain patient as the child stands still.
“How long?” queries the child.
Merevo smirks while looking at the child. “Over ten years.”
“That’s not very long,” remarks the child sarcastically. “I’ve been here for a lot longer than that I can’t make balls of light.”
Merevo looks around the area. “Well how long have you been here?”
The child giggles and disappears again. You stand still, hearing a very loud, echoing giggle around you. Chills move up and down your spine as the sound of the child fill the area around you. Behind you, the child appears again, this time with bright red eyes and fangs for his teeth. He giggles again before turning into a very large demon, standing in front of you. The demon, holding a large scythe, charges in to attack.
Commence Battle with Plantation Demon
The demon turns back into the child, with blue eyes and blonde hair. He stares at you, still giggling with blood dripping down his face. The child vanishes before your eyes, leaving you a clear path to a large opening at the end of the stable.
You arrive in a large room at the far end of the stables with three stalls on each side but a very large opening in the center. You walk forward and notice a dirt moving in the clearing in front of you. Merevo kneels down, watching the dirt move as a smile appears across his face. Behind you, footsteps can be heard coming from the hallway.
Merevo turns first, looking back to see a lanky man walking toward you. “Evening,” he says with a subtle nod. “I never thought I’d see another living, breathing, human in my sight again.”
“How long has it been?” asks Merevo. “Hundreds of years?”
“A few of those,” replies the lanky man with a smile. “I must say, getting into the stables is something that’s very impressive.”
Merevo smirks before turning around and looking at you. “I must say, there were a number of barriers in our way.”
“By design,” explains the Stable Master. “Everything that you have seen so far was created to be a barrier to protect the plantation from outsiders. Everything that you have found, that you have went through, was placed there to deter people like you from finding us.”
“Has anyone before ever made it this far?” asks Merevo.
“No, though some careless and unfortunate adventurers have stumbled in here. They were unfortunate casualties but I must say, their possessions were well received.” The Stable Master reaches into his pocket and pulls out a glowing purple shard and toss it in the air, catching it back in the hand that he tossed it up. “Who would’ve thought the knowledge of the Gods could be compartmentalized so well.”
Merevo looks forward at the Stable Master and peers at the stone he’s casually tossing in the air. “I suppose if you cannot respect the knowledge you’re possessing, perhaps, it’d be best if I take that off of your hands.”
“I don’t believe that will happen,” the Stable Master replies coldly. “In fact, I sense you all possess the knowledge of the Gods as well. I’m certain the master would love to add those to our collection.”
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Stable Master
The Stable Master grimaces as he drops to a knee holding his side. Blood is pouring from the open wound as Merevo stands tall with his hands out, white orbs forming in both of them. “I’ll take that shard now,” Merevo states while looking into the dying eyes of the Stable Master.
The Stable Master’s body slowly dissipates into the air, leaving nothing before you except for a glowing, purple shard. You walk up to the shard and lean down to pick it up. “Go ahead,” Merevo stated calmly with a smile. “You’ve earned that.”

You step back with Merevo as two apparitions appear in front of you. You look at them closely, noticing the man from earlier, the one who is the Master of the Plantation, as well as the Stable Master. The Stable Master appears to look contrite and regretful while the Plantation Master is standing tall and proud.
“Master Dorveaux, I’ll do whatever is required of me from our Goddess, but what will come of our families? What will come of our friends and allies?” asks the Stable Master.
The Plantation Master places his hand on the shoulder of the Stable Master and tries to comfort him. “Serving Saeria requires devotion and sacrifice. We are all having to make sacrifices. Your family will be sitting next to Saeria for all of eternity, worshiping her in peace while the rest of us are all here to make sure her presence will always remain.”
The Master disappears into the air and the Stable Master’s mangled body is in front of you. He clinches his chest still while looking back at you, now with a look of remorse. “We gave so much in service to a God who was forced to forsake us,” he says while looking up at you. “Serving a Goddess like Saeria, who I know loves and cares for us, is easy. Knowing that there is someone looking after my eternal well-being is ideal. However, Master Dorveaux put me in a very difficult situation. After the ending of the War of the Gods, when Vesya decreed that all of the Gods must leave the plane of Dun-I. However, she allowed for the Gods to have doors that linked their realms to Dun-I for the priests to go between. They were the only ones allowed to go through to both realms.”
He sits still and looks at you while clutching his chest. From the back of the room, you hear the shrill laugh of a small child. You look behind you to see the blonde haired child watching you. “Son…” says the Stable Master as he looked at his son. “What has the Master done to you? What have you become?”
“That is your son?” asks Merevo while turning swiftly to look at the Stable Master.
“He was,” the Stable Master replies solemnly. “I told you, Master Dorveaux put me in a very difficult situation. I had to give up my son in service of our Goddess, Saeria. I didn’t know he was going to turn him into this though. I’ve had to live with what my master did in service of our Goddess for thousands of years.”
The Stable Master looks down at the ground while placing the palms of his hands on the dusty floor. He pushes against it and raises up to his feet. “His soul needs to be freed. His soul needs to be sent to Vesya for her to purify so that he can finally be released from this prison.”
The young boy disappears into the air as he continues to laugh. Above the head of the Stable Master, the same blue light from earlier appears. “You know what to do,” says the Stable Master as he steps away from the light. Merevo releases a white orb into the blue light, hitting it and shooting blue sparks through the room. “The Slave Quarters await you. Maybe you’ll be able to free my son from his eternal torment.”
The Stable Master disappeared into the air again, leaving you standing in front of where his body was. You waste little time and run out of the stables, heading out into the open air of the plantation. You look around, seeing the green aura around the door of the final exterior building removed, leaving a clear path into the final building: the Slave Quarters.
Proceed to the Slave Quarters
You walk into the area filled with large stables on all sides. You look around, noticing a few bones in each of the stables from where animals were once kept. You walk through the brightly lit area, keeping your eyes peeled as you walk through and noticing a large clearing at the very end of the stables.
You keep your eyes peeled as you hear a rustling around you. The bones in all of the stables are floating in the air, all coming together around you to create four large constructs.
Commence Battle with Plantation Construct x 3
The bones hit the ground with a loud thud. You exhale slowly as Merevo looks around, hearing more bones rustling around you, all coming through the air and merging with some of the bones already on the ground.
Commence Battle with Plantation Construct x 5
The constructs fall to the ground and you move slowly past them, looking back to see the bones still moving again. The bones suddenly stop as you back away from them, placing yourself in the large room at your back.
You arrive in a large room at the far end of the stables with three stalls on each side but a very large opening in the center. You walk forward and notice a dirt moving in the clearing in front of you. Merevo kneels down, watching the dirt move as a smile appears across his face. You waste little time and run out of the stables, heading out into the open air of the plantation. You look around, seeing the green aura around the door of the final exterior building removed, leaving a clear path into the final building: the Slave Quarters.
Proceed to the Slave Quarters
You walk into a small room with three wooden doors. The room is musty and full of broken chairs, tables, and other debris around the room. You examine the room, seeing four windows around the room. You look forward at the two doors with Merevo at your side, examining the room with you while you stare at them.
As your eyes are locked ahead, an apparition appears behind you. You hear him arrive, forcing you to turn around to see a very well dressed man standing prominently in front of the door, wearing a top hat and carrying a cane. “Good afternoon,” he says politely before stepping through and walking toward one of the doors. “It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen someone consisting of flesh, blood, and bones. I was actually wondering if people like you existed still.” He appears quite happy to see you, though you get an uneasy feeling about him. “Welcome to the Dorveaux Slave Quarters, where those who are bound to the land reside.”
“I do hope you enjoy yourself while you’re here,” he continues before turning around and walking through the left door, leaving you alone in the room with a choice of the two doors ahead of you. You examine the doors closely, trying your best to decide which one to go through. As you’re looking at the doors, you fill a chill come over your body as the faint sound of a child laughing can be heard in the distance.
You inhale slowly while keeping your eyes on the door. Which route will you take?
The left door
The right door
You walk through the door on the left, finding yourself in a room with a single desk in the center of the room and a pair of scales by the door. As you walk in, the door slams behind you and you’re left in the room alone.
An apparition appears in front of you, sitting in a chair behind the desk and staring at you. “Well, hello there, outsiders,” announces the man behind the desk. He looks at you through a thick pair of glasses, carrying a smile across his face while both of his hands rest on the desk. “Are you here to check in and work for the master? If so, I’m going to need you to step on the scales so we can get a good weight on you.”
Merevo looks at the old man and tilted his head lightly. “Work for the master?”
“Yes!” shouts the old man. “Are you here to volunteer your lives for service for the master and our Goddess, Saeria?”
Merevo turns and looks at you with a smile plastered across his face.
Yes, we are here to serve the master (Serving the Master)
No, we are here to discover the source of the magic and free the spirits (Declining the Master)
You opt to walk through the right door, placing your hand on the door knob and turning it slowly before pushing it open. You walk over the threshold and enter a room filled with tubs of water, rags, and other pieces of clothing. You walk in and the door slams behind you, locking you into the room. You stand back where the door is to see several apparitions appear in the room.
Men, women, and children are walking through the room, taking baths and cleaning up from a hard day’s work in the fields. You keep your distance while eyeing everything in front of you. A door on the far end of the room opens up, revealing three very large men and the man you saw in the previous room.
“Your service here on the plantation has been greatly appreciated,” announces the man while placing the tip of his cane on the ground and leaning on it. “I’m certain all of you are aware of what’s going on and what’s happening. This war has been very taxing but with Vesya decreeing that the gateways between the realms must be closed and that the priests will no longer be allowed to travel to worship our Goddess in person. Because of this, we must use some magic to keep our gateways hidden from the eyes of Vesya.”
He pauses for a moment before looking back at the group. “Your lives have been forfeit in the ritual. I hope you all understand that you are now going to be used in service of Saeria and that for the rest of eternity, you will be bound to the plantation.”
The man steps away from other apparitions and walks back into the room behind them. One of the larger men pulls out a large greatsword and holds it over his head, swinging it down at one of the children in the room. The blade pierced the apparition and went through it unabated. All of the apparitions disappear, though the three large men remain.
“Strange,” states a confused Merevo who steps in front of you to see the three men approaching with their large weapons drawn.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Soldier x 3
The three soldiers’ bodies disappear after you defeat them, vanishing into the air. Merevo looks back at you before pointing to the door where the man in the top hat and cane came through. “I think we only have one choice,” he states while walking toward the door.
You walk through the door with Merevo into the next room, finding yourself in a room filled with beds, chairs, and other furniture. “This must be where the slaves resided,” announces Merevo as he leads the way, looking around the room. The room looks as if it has been slept in recently and cleaned often. “Where’s the filth?” asks Merevo as he steps into the room and looks around.
As you’re walking through the room, you hear a rumbling from a room ahead of you. The door slams open and three more Dorveaux Soldiers run into the room with their large weapons drawn.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Soldier x 3
The Soldiers fall to the ground and disappear. You look to the right, noticing a small chest that is undisturbed. You walk over to it and kick it open, finding a few useful pieces of armor.

“Come on,” says an eager Merevo as he’s standing in the doorway leading to the next room. “We haven’t much time to lose.”
You follow Merevo into the room to find it in incredible disrepair. Large vases are shattered and lining the walls of the room with ashes surrounding their bases. Paintings, all of the same family, are on the walls but covered in blood. The floors are covered in an unrecognizable while you can make out a few sets of bones scattered about the room.
“What have we found here?” asks Merevo as he looks around the room. The windows on the side of the room are letting in enough light to keep the illuminated for you to see everything. As you stand in the center of the room, you look down at the wooden planks under your feet. In between each of them, blood starts to come up and onto the floor. Within seconds, you are up to your ankles in blood. You look down as the sounds of a child laughing fill the room, creating an uneasy feeling as you look over toward the windows.
The ashes from the vases begin to float in the air as you feel the blood up against your ankles. The laughing continues as the ashes come toward you. The bones on the ground rise up as well, moving toward the ashes. You look on as the blood is sucked toward the center of the room, creating a vortex before eventually coming together with the ashes and bones. Before you, a large creature with giant eyes, massive fangs and a deformed humanoid appearance is poised, ready to halt your progress.
Commence Battle with Visceral Creature
The creatures falls back to the ground disintegrates back into ash, bones, and blood, with the latter seeping back through the slats in the wood. You’re standing still, bothered by what you just saw before you. “This place is getting more and more odd as we progress,” states a perplexed Merevo. He looks forward, seeing the door forward opening it up before them, almost inviting you in.
You walk into a very large chamber to find several men, women, and children all shackled to the walls. The floors are stained in blood and the walls are filled with scuffs and scratch marks from those who are trapped in side. “Help us,” says a young girl shackled to the wall in the corner of the room.
Merevo runs over to the young girl and places his hand on her face. “You’re not an apparition,” he says in a panic as he feels the flesh against his hand. “What are you? How did you get here?”
The young girl looks up at Merevo. “I prayed that someone would finally come here.”
“I’m here,” continues Merevo. “There has to be a key here somewhere to release your shackles.”
You stand in the center of the room and look at all of the people shackled to the wall. Merevo walks over to one of the other people shackled to the wall and placed his hand on their face, seeing that their also real. “Everyone in this room is alive,” announces Merevo as the door to the other room opens up and the man in the top hat walks in.
“Why of course they’re real,” announces the man as he walks through the room with the tip of his cane hitting the ground with each step.
Merevo stands up and looks at the man as he leans on his cane. “Why are these people here?” asked Merevo while pointing at the people behind him.
“Because we have to sate the master,” he replies politely. “This magic is two-fold. Unfortunately, it requires a large sacrifice to start the magic but also requires a constant sacrifice to sustain it.”
Merevo pauses for a moment while looking at the man across from him with the prisoners at his back. “The first sacrifice was the Stable Master’s child, wasn’t it?”
“Yes, it was,” replies the man across from him. “Two barriers must fall before you can enter the mansion. His son was one of them.”
“Then the other sacrifice must be the energy from the souls keeping the barriers up,” continues Merevo. “That’s some very old and corrupt magic.”
“It’s what we have and how we have stayed hidden for so long,” remarks the man in the top hat. “We’ve done everything that we can to serve Saeria and to keep the portal open. If Vesya were to discover that the portal were still in service, there would be hell to pay for all of us.”
Merevo sighs as he stares at the people behind him. “These people are not just meant to die for your Goddess.”
“Everyone here is meant to die for someone,” retorts the man across from him. "Better it be my hands in service of our master than by the hands of someone less merciful."
“They won’t die for you. I promise you of that,” threatens Merevo as balls of white appeared in his hands. The Slave Master leans forward and places all of his weight on his cane while smirking at the magical brother. His eyes glow purple before an aura appears around him. He pauses for a brief moment before lashing out at you and Merevo.

The Slave Master falls to his knees and looks up at you. “The barrier cannot be broken…” he mutters weakly as his body faded away. Three apparitions appear in front of you. The Slave Master, a young boy, and Master Dorveaux, are all standing in before you.
“Are you ready?” asked Master Dorveaux as he places his hands on the young boy’s shoulders.
“I am,” replies the young boy as he looks up into the eyes of Master Dorveaux. “Will it hurt?”
“I hope not,” comforts Master Dorveaux. “My daughter just did it and she didn’t seem to mind. Perhaps it will be just as easy for you too.”
The three apparitions disappear and the Slave Master appears before them again. He remains on his knees, looking up at Merevo. “If the boy dies, then the first barrier is broken and Vesya will be able to see all that we have hidden. Please, you must turn back. You cannot expose us to her.”
The slave master disappears and in his place, the young boy appears. His eyes are again fiery red as he looks at you. Merevo sighs as he stares at the young boy and creates two large white balls in his hand. “I never enjoyed harming children,” he states while gazing into the young boy’s red eyes. “I was you once. I had my childhood ripped away from me. I’m sorry, but please forgive me when you’re on the other side.”
Merevo projects the white orb at the young boy. It travels across the room rapidly and explodes in his face. You stand back and look for the debris of the young child to fall to the ground, taking a step back and shielding your eyes from the explosive light. You pause for a moment and look back. "Impossible," stammers Merevo. The child is still standing and appears to be quite angry. “That’s not how I expected that to go,” says a surprised Merevo as the young child starts to seethe. He breathes heavily for a few seconds as his skin begins to glow a dark red and his eyes shift to a solid black.
Commence Battle with Demon Child
The demon morphs back into the child before your eyes, with his blonde hair matted about and his eyes a soft blue again. His clothes, the overalls with the green shirt, are now tattered and his face is showing signs of cuts and scrapes. He looks up at you with a look of fear in his eyes as his body starts to vanish. “Go rest, child,” Merevo states as you look on at the scared young boy. Seconds pass and the boy vanishes, leaving you alone in the slave quarters.
At the back of the Slave Quarters, a door opens up to the outside. You walk toward the door and step out of the threshold, but hear a distinct voice pulling you back. You turn around, seeing the young boy standing behind you. “Are you going to free us?” he asks innocently.
Merevo walks back into the foyer and takes a knee in front of him, kneeling down to look into his eyes while stroking the blonde hair behind his ear. “Yes, we’re going to find out what old magic is at work here and we are going to release all of you. This prison will be leveled by sundown if I have any say in it.”
The young boy nods and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a glowing orange shard to present to Merevo. He looks at it and holds it before turning and handing it to you.

Behind the young boy, the Slave Master, Stable Master, and Silo Master all appear. They remain quiet and look at you, nodding in approval as you equip your new shard. They disappear as you turn around with Merevo and walk toward the door, preparing to exit into the courtyard of the plantation once more. Merevo turns and looks at you with your feet firmly on the grass outside the Slave Quarters. "Come on, our job is far from finished. We have to dive deep into that mansion to find out where the source of all this magic is."

The man at the desk disappears before your eyes and three large soldiers run through the door in front of you with their weapons drawn.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Soldier x 3
The soldiers fall to the ground and dissipate into the air, leaving you alone in the room with the door ahead of you open. You turn around to see the door from whence you came has vanished, leaving you with only one path. You walk past the desk and through the door into the next room.
You continue through the area, finding yourself in a room that is pitch black with the only lighting coming in from the room behind you. You look up to see a large chandelier waiting to be lit above you, though the door closes and the room goes dark. “I can fix this,” announces Merevo as he ignites both of his hands with a soft white glow and propels it up to the chandelier. The white orbs hit the candles and bounce off of the wicks before dissipating. The candles spark lightly and the room brightens up. You find yourself in a room with a large hearth and massive cauldrons. Several dark pots line the dark walls of this interior room. “Clearly we have found the Slave’s kitchen,” announces Merevo while walking through the room and analyzing everything he could find.
In the center, a large black cauldron is suspended by a metal rod over a large what looks to be a pit where a fire is started. As you’re looking at the cauldron, a fire is ignited beneath the pit. A liquid starts to bubble in the cauldron. Merevo’s eyes light up as you take a step back from the cauldron, noticing the liquid starting to bubble over.
You hear a loud bang behind you. Against the wall, the small child is holding two of the pots together to create a lot of noise. He slams the two pots together while making eye contact with Merevo. He’s smiling and giggling as you step toward him. His eyes are still glowing red. “What are you, child?” asks Merevo as the child raises up his hand and points behind you.
You turn to see a creature having emerged from the large cauldron. He’s towering over you in height with large fangs coming out from his face and massive eyes. His skin was black and dripping with a dark substance. The creature shrieks as the child behind you giggles in delight, watching him leap toward you to attack.
Commence Battle with Visceral Creature
The creature descends back into the pot while the fire goes out. The child, still sitting against the wall holding the pots, looks on at you with amazement. You turn around and see that the child is still there. “Alright child, it’s time to talk. What are you?” asks Merevo as he walks toward the small child.
The child smiles before disappearing into the air, prompting Merevo to scream loudly in anger. “I swear the next time I see that child, I will detonate a ball of energy in his face!” Following the scream, the door on the far end of the room opens, with three soldiers running in to halt your progress. Merevo lashes out in anger and hurls a large ball of energy above the heads of the soldiers. The ceiling crumbles down around the soldiers, missing them completely. The Soldiers step around the rubble before charging toward you and attacking.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Soldier x 3
The soldiers fall to the ground and fade away. "I'm getting rather fed up with this place," seethes Merevo before walking over to the ground from where the soldiers disappeared. You move toward the door, hoping to find the man from the first room when you notice a small chest at the far end of the room containing a few useful items.

“Of course we are!” shouts Merevo as he looks at the older man. “We are obviously here to serve the Master, though, we are more serious about serving Saeria. I do hope you understand.”
The old man behind the desk pushes himself away from the desk and looks up at you. “Oh, I understand completely,” he says calmly. “You see, even though we all owe our life to Master Regulus Dorveaux, our souls are destined to serve Saeria. You have the right mindset to do well here. Now, let’s get you all checked in and get you to your positions.”
You walk over to the scale and hop on it, watching the needle move to a position that causes the old man to scowl a bit. “A bit on the heavy side,” he mutters to himself while looking over his glasses at you. “No matter, you’ll still do.” You step to the side and Merevo steps onto the scale, where the needle barely moves up to the appropriate level. “I think we’re going to need to give you their extra rations,” he remarks sarcastically while dictating Merevo’s weight. “Come! Come! Your weights may not be ideal, but we can fix that. Please, come, follow me!
You follow the Old Man through the door behind his desk and into the next room, finding it well lit with several slabs, tables, and other devices meant to break and torture the slaves. “Don’t be alarmed by what you’re about to see, but we like to show all of our new recruits the consequences of breaking the Master’s laws,” the old man states calmly. “The master insists of administering his own judgment for any crimes committed on the plantation.”
You stand back and watch a man being drug up to the table and strapped to it. The leather straps are going across his chest and ratcheted down, tightening against his skin. His body appears to be somewhat emaciated, almost as if he had been deprived food for several days.
“What did this man do?” questions Merevo.
“He stole from the Master,” replies the old man. “He took a riding crop from the master’s stable and hid it under his bed, potentially to use it to harm one of the men who are here to protect you.”
The man on the table looks to be defeated and broken as a man in a hood walked out with a hot poker. He holds it firmly and looks into the eyes of his victim as he appears frightened. The man in the hood placed the tip of the poker against the soft flesh underneath his victims sternum. The man on the table screams in pain as the sound of searing flesh fills the air. “The punishment always fits the crime,” the old man says callously as he motions for you to follow him to a neighboring room.
The neighboring room was very dark with only a few torches keeping it illuminated. The old man walks over to the wall and grabs a few small pieces of cloth to toss to you. “You’ll have to get rid of your current garments and look like the rest of the men and women who serve us here.”
Merevo looks down at his dark robes before looking back up at the old man. “I’d honestly rather not. I enjoy my robes a bit too much.”
“There is no debating this policy. The master wants to know who all is serving him and there is no room for anyone to not conform,” the old man replies in a snarky tone. Merevo sighed and unbuttoned the top button on his robe, revealing a necklace with a white shard attached to it. The old man’s eyes light up as he sees the shard swinging against Merevo’s chest, prompting him to step back. “Heretic…”
The door to the next room opened up and three large soldiers ran in. Merevo glances down to see that the shard he carried was revealed. “Well that is unfortunate,” Merevo states while creating two balls of light in his hands.
Commence Battle with Dorveaux Soldier x 3
The three soldiers vanish into the air, leaving you standing there with the old man. “Heretic…” he mutters again while keeping his eyes on you. His skin begins to turn black as he kept his eyes trained on you. His glasses fell off of his face and his body started to morph into a very awkward and hideous creation.
Commence Battle with Visceral Creature
The creature falls backwards after being defeated and turns back into the old man. He falls back into the wall and looks back at you as he dissipates into the air. As he fades away, you hear the light chuckling of the child filling the area. “That child is going to drive me insane,” says Merevo as he walks toward the door. Beside the door, you see a chest with some useful items in it.
