You take a breath and walk through the Hunter’s Guild, making your way to the back to the huntmaster and his board to his left. Once there, a large hunter, Diexxus, is staring intently at the board. He reaches forward and grabs a piece of parchment from the board, holding it in his hand and scoffs. “Beneath me,” he quips under his breath. He turns his head slightly to see you walk up. “Oh, you,” he says in a snarky tone with the parchment still in his hand. “Here, why don’t you take this one. It’s quite beneath someone of my skill.”
You reach forward and grab the piece of parchment from the hand of Diexxus. On it, you see a hand-drawn image of a large alligator named Cask with a brief description of the beast below it. Cask, a ferocious creature who is tormenting the merchant vessels between Sunshire and Werz. Smaller ships are torn asunder with the crew killed while larger ships are able to make it through safe, though to cost of transporting goods by water increases because of the danger. For completion of this task, you will be rewarded handsomely by equipment provided by the various artisans and crafters from Werz.
“I have no use for any equipment, as my swords are far better than anything some blacksmith in Werz can create,” quips Diexxus. “Maybe if you can defeat that beast, you can upgrade those rags you’re wearing.” Diexxus looks down on you before turning back to the board, motioning for you to walk away and head to the swamps, where your mark awaits.
You take a small boat into the swamps outside of Sunshire where the creature Cask allegedly resides. The swamp is dark with large trees hanging over the murky water to prevent the sun from shining through. The smell of foul, standing water and decaying carcasses fill the air as your boat floats along the water. You breathe in reluctantly while standing at the bow of the small boat as it drifts along the water, keeping a lookout for the large creature and waiting patiently for him to attack.
The boat moves into a fog that has rolled in, making it difficult to see in front of the boat. You try and look out onto the banks to see if the large creature is slumbering away, though the fog is too dense to make out anything other than a silhouette. You squint slightly in the hopes of seeing him, only to come up with nothing. The fog is either too dense or the creature isn't there. You stand against the long rail and continue to try to see the creature. As you're standing against it, the boat rattles and a loud thud comes from beneath the ship. You grip the rail tightly as the impact from another slam shakes the boat, forcing you forward. You flip over the rail and into the murky water below.
You flail a bit before immediately reaching for your weapons. You turn to see a large alligator emerge from the water to float along the surface. His eyes are dark as he peers toward you, eyeing his next meal. You breathe slowly and calm yourself, knowing that your mark was in front of you and you are currently in his battlefield.
Commence Battle with Cask
The alligator is wounded and backs off, keeping his eyes on you as you try to swim back to the boat. Staying in the water may not be the most wise decision, as he is at his deadliest with you there. You have to get him to land or onto solid ground. As you place your hands on the wood of the boat, you’re forced to push yourself away from it with your legs to avoid the snap of Cask’s jaw.
Commence Battle with Cask
Cask is still alive and very angry. Getting up onto the boat will be fatal, as you will make yourself quite vulnerable. You are forced to change your strategy and kick as fast as you can with Cask on your heels. You swim as fast as you can to the shore. Once there, you run onto the sandy ground as the large alligator follows you. You turn around with your feet now on solid ground, attacking the large alligator before he has a chance to attack you.
Every player places two cards into their fields, not surpassing three, for no effect.
Commence Battle with Cask
The large alligator falls to the ground. His lifeless body goes limp as you stand over your prey. You pick him up by the tail and drag him back to the boat, taking him back to the Hunter's Guild to claim your reward.
