Inside the Hunter’s Guild, you find that the place is quite jubilant. Music is playing loudly and banners of green, white, and gold are hanging from the wooden rafters. You walk forward and look out over the small crowd surrounding a table to see Nymphera standing on top of it, holding up the head of a large beast with sharp horns and a nose ring. It appears to be some type of bull, though you don’t get close enough to really get a good look at it.
In his usual spot, the huntmaster is sitting at his table with an even larger than usual stack of parchment before him. He fumbles through them as you approach, not paying any attention to you, or anything happening in the hall for that matter. You walk up to the board and look over the various marks. Many of the better paying ones have been taken already, but to the top of the board, you see a mark for a creature that resides near the peak of the Peroney Mountains near Sunshire.
“Looking at Hiermos?” asks Diexxus as he walks up behind you with a large mug of amber liquid in his right hand. He sloshes it around while looking at the piece of parchment in your hands. “Be careful with that one. He’s defeated several of the best hunters around, hence why that mark has been on the board for quite some time. Though, if the rumors are true, the beast was defeated recently by one of his own and is no longer the alpha of his clan.”
Diexxus’s words ring through your ears as you look at the parchment. Hiermos, a large yeti, is the alpha of a clan of yeti and has been seen tormenting various merchants trying to cross the mountains. A hefty reward of 600 gold will be provided to whoever slays the beast.”
“He’s right. That mark has been up there for quite some time and I’ve heard that the beast has fallen from grace. However, the merchants still have not pulled the mark from our board, so he is ripe for the taking,” announces the huntmaster as he continues to look about his stack. Diexxus shrugs as you place the parchment in your knapsack and turn around to head for the door. With the jubilant party going on, no one notices you leave and you make your way to the exit, heading out to the Peroney Mountains to defeat your mark.
You leave the city of Sunshire and head to the Peroney Mountains. Stories of caverns filled with ice and stone, filled with a tribe of ravenous trolls keep the commoners and merchants at bay, though adventurers still manage to venture to the summit of the large peak. Without entering the cavern at the base of the mountain, where light blue walls can be seen from the entrance, you opt to take a path to the side that leads up to the summit.
The path is narrow and rocky, but easily traversable. As you look down, you can tell that large creatures have recently walked along the rocky surface and that nothing too treacherous should come from beneath your feet. Above you, the mountain slopes to a more acute angle that heads up to the top, where you believe your destination lays.
You continue your trek up the rocky slope that goes around the mountain, stopping briefly at the sight of a freshly mangled corpse. You kneel down to inspect it, finding that it belongs to one of the Ice Trolls that resides within the caverns of the mountain. The troll's skin is light blue and his fangs protrude from his lips. As you inspect his torso, you can tell that he was well equipped, holding a spear that potentially came from an earlier traveler who braved entry into the caverns.
Acquire Brass Spear
You continue to inspect the body of the ice troll to find that he possesses several gaping wounds across the lower portion of his body and it appears he may fallen from a higher peak and landed here. You look up to see that there is a landing above you and that, once you reach that spot, trouble may be waiting for you.
The wind begins to howl and the air becomes cooler as you make your way forward up the narrow path. The slope gets greater but the path is still easy to walk on. After a few short moments, you reach the landing that you saw earlier. The area is flat with a small, rudimentary hut created from several fallen trees once resided on the mountain. Beside the hut, you can see a small cave that might potentially lead deeper into the caverns. A loud roar shakes the snow around the mountain above the cavern as two creatures, both covered in white fur with blue eyes and an evil disposition emerge. The gaze upon you for a few short moments before bellowing loudly and charging toward you.
Commence Battle with Yeti x 2
The two creatures fall to the ground at your feet, both bloodied and broken from the conflict. Large gashes across their faces and torso bloody the snow covered ground. You take a step back and hear something coming from the hut. As you turn to face it, a larger creature emerges. The Yeti is much older than the two you have just recently slain and walks with a bit of a limp. You can see scars across his legs and body and one of his eyes is missing. Standing before you is the creature Yiermos, the former Alpha of the Yeti. Only recently fallen by a younger Yeti, the beast is still quite formidable and you are trespassing on his mountain. As you stare at your mark, you grip your weapons tightly and prepare for the harsh battle ahead.
Commence Battle with Hiermos
Hiermos drops to his knees and screams loudly in agony he is bested for the second time in his life. You hold your weapons tightly and prepare for the beast to attack you again. You perceive that he still has the strength to continue, though as he stares off into the distance, you wonder if he still has the will. In his one eye, you can see him looking off into the grey sky as the wind swirls around you. The howling sound is comforting as Hiermos stands up and ignores you. The beast walks past you and over to the edge of the landing, where he looks up into the sky and screams loudly before leaping off the side.
You sprint forward to edge of the cliff and gaze off the side to find the corpse of Hiermos plastered on top of the bones of the fallen Ice Troll. You step back from the cliff and look over to the cavern, seeing nothing coming toward you from it. At your feet, you look down to see a glowing Shard that must've fallen off of the pelt of Hiermos.
