The sounds of the forest, chirping birds and swaying branches, fill the air as you walk along the trail. You keep your eyes peeled, trying to find any hint that the direwolf you’re looking for may be near. Fresh carcasses, snapped plants, or footprints are on your mind as you keep your head down along the trail. As you make your way to a small clearing, you find three wolves tearing apart a carcass of a large deer. Your feet snap a twig beneath you, alerting the wolves of your presence. They peer over their snouts and snarl at you with incredible menace. They stalk forward as you pull out your weapons, preparing yourself to put the animals down.
Commence Battle with Wolf x 3
You put the wolves down, though as you look around you, the sight of glowing eyes in the brush draw your attention. You stand up and look out into the dense thicket as three more wolves emerge from it. You grip your weapon tightly as the wolves snarl at you, showing their teeth while moving forward you slowly. After a few seconds of your eyes staying locked on each other, the wolves dive in to attack.
Commence Battle with Wolf x 3
The second set of wolves are lying beside the first. You’ve slain six wolves so far, but you hear a faint growl coming from the brush behind you. You look back to see a very large set of eyes looking at you. From out of the brush, a large, grey wolf appears with glowing orange eyes. The wolf moves slowly, stalking you within the clearing that you're standing. You hold your weapon and breathe slowly, knowing that this is your target. Before you is Fang, the direwolf that you've been contracted to eliminate. Blood drips from his mouth and his paws push down the various twigs on the ground with loud cracks echoing off the trees behind you.
Commence Battle with Fang
You remove your weapon from the side of the direwolf. Blood pools on the ground around him as his legs give out. His grey fur is matted in the pools of blood as the life leaves his orange eyes. You lean down and pick up his corpse, tossing him over your shoulder before walking back out of the forest. More wolves appear from the thick brush, but upon seeing the corpse of Fang over your shoulder, they flee in fear for their own safety.
You reenter the Hunter's Guild and walk past the members who are enjoying a beverage. You make it to the front of the hall and to the table of the huntmaster before tossing the corpse of Fang in front of him. Without looking up from his large stack of parchment, he smirks and shakes his head. "It is not customary for the killer of the mark to actually bring the corpse of the beast into the hall. We typically prefer that the corpse is left in one of our secured stables outside with one of the men who service the dead." He looks up from the parchment and smirks. "Congratulations on killing Fang. I'm sure the farmers who contracted you will be grateful for your hard work. Maybe you should challenge yourself with a much more difficult mark, hunter."
He points to the wall before reaching into his table and tossing you a small sack of coins. The huntmaster sits back down and goes back to his parchment, leaving you to your reward.
