By Gods and Kings is an Interactive Novel where you and your allies play through a story. By Gods and Kings utilizes standard playing cards (52 cards with no Jokers) and is meant for groups between 3 and 6 players.  As you’re playing through the story, you’ll make choices that progress the story in an attempt to pick up new equipment to make you stronger and new Shards to offer you new abilities.

The Goal is Quite Simple. You want to create a 3 Card Hand in your field that is either a Flush, Straight, or 3 of a Kind.  

Flush: 3 Cards of the Same Suit

Straight: 3 Cards that are Sequential

3 of a Kind: 3 Cards that are of the Same Value.

There are also abilities that can be deployed through Discarding a card from your hand or by Sacrificing a card from the field.

Discard: Discard a card from your hand into the Discard Pile.

Sacrifice: Discard a card already played into the Field into the Discard Pile.

Getting Setup is Quite Easy and can be done in 5 Steps.

Step 1: Select a Character Class from the sheets below.

Step 2: Combine the card decks and shuffle them.

Step 3: Deal everyone 5 cards for their hand. These are open face so everyone can see.

Step 4: Everyone Places 1 Card from their Hand into the Field for no effect, leaving them with 4 cards in their hand and 1 in the field.
