Role Playing in SINS

May 9, 2019

Role Playing can still happen within SINS, it’s just the time in which it is allowed. Players do not role play with NPCs like they would in some other tabletops. Instead, players can only role play with one another and typically, the role playing revolves around the choice that will be made. In the previous section, when Gilbert and his band of miscreants look toward you to see what decision you’re going to make, you won’t discuss this with Gilbert. You will discuss this with your team of playable characters and then make your decision.

One fantastic place to Role Play is in between Scenarios. Depending on which game you are playing (whether it be By Gods and Kings, another ScribbCrib product, or your own creation), role playing in between Scenarios is an optimal spot, especially if you’re trying to decide what to do next. In the property, By Gods and Kings, players can role play with one another when deciding to continue through the arc The Forgotten Secrets of Sunshire or they can debate if they should challenge some of the side-quest scenarios or other arcs. This debate and discussion can lead to solid roleplaying and, if you are searching for an avenue for that, this is a great spot to do it in.

Notes for Game Masters: Role Playing is a lot of fun and, if you are giving your players the leniency to role play, feel free to role play as some of the NPCs (so long as you’re not advancing a narrative you don’t want to advance). This can make the game much more immersive and fun for you and your players.
